Here at Little Shelter there is always plenty to do for the animals in our care. Whether its distributing food to needy pets in surrounding communities, working with children to educate them about being a responsible pet guardian or taking care of the animals at the shelter, we never seem to have enough time or people to get everything done!

Little Shelter is always looking for hardworking, dedicated and reliable animal lovers ages 16 and up to volunteer their time and support our life saving mission. As a volunteer you can work hands on with the animals, assist in our administrative offices, help out at events and so much more… If you have special carpentry skills and consider yourself handy, please let us know!

Little Shelter couldn’t accomplish the life saving work we do without the compassion and diligence of our volunteer staff. We may be a “little shelter” but we have big dreams and everyone can make a difference in the life of an animal when they volunteer for us.

Volunteer to do Humane Education

Looking for 2 or 3 volunteers to do Humane Education in our local schools. Requirements are a love for kids, and a desire to educate them regarding responsible pet ownership, spaying/neutering, etc. Must be available during the day to visit schools in Nassau and Suffolk County.
