If you haven't found your perfect match or you just want to expand your possibilites, you can visit a local municipal shelter and save a life. There are lots of great dogs at these shelters who are there due to several different unfortunate circumstances.
It doesn’t hurt to look. You might even find your perfect match.

TIPS ON FINDING A LOST DOG

Call ALL the animal shelters on this list: A lot of times a well meaning person will take a dog to their local town shelter, not necessarily the town the animal was found in.

Put up flyers EVERYWHERE!: A fluorescent  poster board is more effective than anything else. Visit MissingPetPartnership.org for the most effective method of making posters and flyers. Be sure to place flyers in local vet's offices as well as any local emergency hospital.

Speak to your mailman and school bus drivers: They really are the eyes and ears of the community.

Place an ad in Newsday: Ads are free, but there is a small fee to add a photo. It is well worth it.

REMEMBER: It can take weeks to find a lost dog, but never give up.

When you are reunited with your pet, please make sure they always have identification tags on their collar and have your pet microchipped. You'll be glad you did.
