Amos

The Promise

Amos arrived at Little Shelter as a puppy scared, frightened, and not knowing what “home” meant. But that changed quickly one day when that special person walked into his life with the promise of a “forever” home and life filled with love and happiness.

For 7 years, Amos grew from a playful puppy thriving for affection to an adult who was a puppy at heart and could not do enough to return all the love that his special person had shown him. An unconditional love meant to last throughout the years.

Amos’ fairy tale life abruptly came to a halt when his companion fell seriously ill and required hospitalization. With no one to keep the promise she had made to Amos 7 years before, heartbrokenly, she turned to Little Shelter.

Soon after Amos’ arrival at Little Shelter, he was diagnosed with cataracts and since then he has lost most of his vision. Amos is currently living with Little Shelter volunteers who are providing him a Foster Home and assistance in adapting to his vision loss.

Amos will eventually become totally blind. However, despite it all, Amos lives his life with such zest. Playing ball, taking walks, and running up and down the stairs are still his favorite pastimes. And at the end of the day he looks forward for a lap to snuggle on.

We can’t reunite Amos with his Companion of 7 years. Nor can we bring back his sight. However, we here at Little Shelter are searching for a very special someone. A guardian angel to keep the promise made to him so many years ago, the promise of a “forever” home and life filled with love and happiness.

If you are looking for that special companion to fill this new year with love and joy, give us a call at 631-368-8770 ext 205 or contact us a lsar98@aol.com . You just may be the angel Amos awaits.
