Adopt a Senior

ADOPT A SENIOR

As you walk past the cages at the animal shelter, you see so many needy faces staring back at you. Their sad eyes all tell a story, and each is silently pleading ‘pick me, pick me!’ Then you stop at one particular cage. The dog inside is so cute. He is the perfect size and seems to have the perfect temperament, as he sits calmly looking out at you. You read the information on his cage and your heart sinks – he’s just too old, you want something younger. What you don’t realize is that this dog has something younger dogs do not – life experience! He’s most likely housebroken, and he’s had years to perfect his snuggling, tailing wagging and licking techniques. He’s also an expert on how to make you feel like you’re the only person on earth. This dog has so much love left to give!

At a time of their life when they need their owners the most, many senior dogs and cats find themselves abandoned in animal shelters. Perhaps their companion has passed away and there is nobody to care for them, or perhaps they just don’t fit in with their new lifestyle any more. Whatever the reason, it certainly is a sad situation for these animals that have provided many years of faithful companionship.

Please consider opening your heart and your home to a senior dog or cat. Visit your local animal shelter today, and you could soon be experiencing the special love and rewards that go hand-in-hand with saving the life of a senior animal.

WALTER

Walter is a senior poodle that was rescued from a local town shelter. He loves nothing more then to find a lap to snuggle up in and give gentle kisses.

TREKKER

Trekker is a southern gentleman that wins hearts wherever he goes. Although large, he doesn’t require much space as he enjoys lying around and being a couch potato.

FOSTER

Foster is small in stature but big in attitude. Foster has a larger than life personality and likes to spend her days ruling the roost.

BUTCHIE

Butchie is a mellow, laid-back fellow that prefers the quiet life. Leisurely walks and relaxing on a big soft pillow are Butchie’s favorite past-times.

SAMANTHA

Samantha is small in size and cute as can be. Samantha loves nothing more than to be scooped up and carried around.

MARCO

Marco may be blind, but that doesn’t stop this senior poodle. Marco is still quiet active and loves to go on walks, followed by a nap on his special persons lap.

BUTTERCUP

Buttercup is one of Little Shelter's longest and most beloved residents. She is known as a polydactyl as she was born with extra toes on both front paws.

TULLY

Tully is the socialite of the cattery and is loved by all the cats. Tully has a neurological problem which makes his back end wiggle when he walks, but that just adds to his character.
