INGRID UPDATE 9/01/07 The recent hazy, hot, and humid weather has made breathing difficult for all heart patients, and our Ingrid is no exception. She suffered a minor setback as the summer air forced her heart to work harder. A trip to her cardiologist was necessary and some of her medication had to be adjusted to keep her stable. And yes, Viagra is still part of her daily regimen of pills. Although our little girl loves to romp through our park-like grounds, her outdoor activities have been restricted to regular walks until the weather turns cooler. However, her daily dog paddle in the shaded puppy pool is still permitted. Ingrid does need some exercise to keep her girlish figure! It seems that no matter what challenges her, Ingrid continues to be as sweet and gentle as can be. And every day, we see her display more of her endearing personality. This week, our staff members realized that Ingrid not only loves to go out, she also loves to dress up before she leaves her room. Bandanas are her favorite, but not just any bandanas. They must be pink. No pale or dowdy colors for this little lady! While pools and walks and bandanas do make Ingrid happy, what would make her happiest is a loving forever home. Despite her health issues, Ingrid remains the sweetest, kindest, most loyal dog you will ever know. She really would like to share all these wonderful qualities with her special adoptive family. There is no doubt she will require special medication and regular doctor visits for the rest of her life, but Little Shelter will provide all for the rest of her life. Please come to Little Shelter and meet Ingrid. Nothing we say could tell you what a wonderful little girl she is; you have to experience Ingrid and then you will love her for the rest of your life.
WE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU INGRID 8/01/07
LITTLE SHELTER FOUND INGRID CHAINED TO A POST BEHIND A BARBED WIRE FENCE. SHE HAD BEEN ATTACKED BY OTHER DOGS AND BEATEN BY PEOPLE SHE TRUSTED. SHE WAS ALSO DEATHLY ILL; HEARTWORM WAS SLOWLY KILLING HER. Ingrid needed extraordinary medical treatment, and Little Shelter provided it. Little Shelter has vowed to pay for this expensive care for the rest of Ingrid’s life. BUT WE CANNOT DO IT ALONE. Little Shelter rescues dogs – and cats – like Ingrid every day. PLEASE BE GENEROUS. DONATE NOW TO LITTLE SHELTER’S MAGIC AND MERLIN FUND FOR ANIMALS WITH EXTRAORDINARY MEDICAL NEEDS.
INGRID UPDATE 7/10/07
![]() It’s summertime so the wading pools are out on the Little Shelter campus. Every morning, Ingrid is the first one to jump in! The Viagra is really helping our girl to be the perky, frisky, happy dog she was meant to be. We thank all of you who have donated money and medication on her behalf; you are truly helping us keep her alive. But the life of Ingrid does not depend on medication alone. She must continually visit her regular vet and her cardiologist to make sure there are no changes in her condition. Echocardiograms, blood tests, and other exams will be a routine part of this sweet dog’s life. And all human heart patients will agree, these procedures can be extremely expensive. Medical insurance and Medicare do not pay Ingrid’s bills – but Little Shelter does. In addition, we are committed to providing all care and medication for her heart condition even after she is adopted. Before too long, we are hoping to welcome that perfect family – one with a quiet household in which Ingrid will be pampered, given her medication, and allowed to take an undisturbed nap when she needs to. Not everyone has that ideal home, but everyone can show Ingrid love and attention. Please make a donation in her name to Little Shelter’s Magic and Merlin Fund and help us provide everything this exceptional dog needs for the rest of her life. Her medical bills will always be astronomical and your assistance will be much appreciated. If you have Viagra you would like to donate, you can continue to drop it off in our kennel office. And if you visit Little Shelter during the summer, be sure to look for Ingrid cooling off in the puppy pool!
