Jackson is an extremely intelligent and loving dog who simply could not deal with the stresses of kennel life. Some of his main problems at the shelter were a result of this (e.g., cage fighting, spinning, leash biting, etc.).

Living at the sanctuary in a foster home has elevated some of the stresses that reduced Jack's ability to be shown to the public for adoption.

Most of Jack's problems are fear based in nature, so we have been working to overcome most of his fears by helping him confront them. We try to get him off property as much as possible, and so far it is helped him immeasurably. He is no longer afraid of cars and he has become less afraid of large trucks.

Jack is great at obedience and loves to work for praise and affection. He is one of those dogs that never wants to leave your side.

Jack has had very few problems meeting new people, as long as they are dog-friendly and have a desire to meet him.

Jack currently lives in a foster home at the sanctuary with his foster parent and eight other dogs. He is crate-trained, becoming housebroken, and has very mild separation anxiety problems.

Update 7/10/06: Well, you just have to love Jackson. He has trimmed down and slowed down a bit but he is still the Jack we know and love. He loves to play with imaginary things in the water by grabbing at the water over and over again. He rooms with Molly and they are two peas in a pod. He came to us in 1997 and he was about 2 years old.

We spay and neuter all of our animals as soon as is medically possible. The miniminal adoption donation paid upon adoption includes all the medical procedures that we have done on the animal being adopted,
including the spaying and neutering.
